Greg Robie:

I’m not Hershel.

And I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

Blake said:

“The main problem I have is that of people looking at him as if he was a positive influence on anybody, but then I haven’t seen many people in the public eye these days I would let in my door- and that is a sad state of affairs.”

This hit home with me.

I think society has a lot of trouble differentiating between talent and/or celebrity status, and morality or ability to be a good role model.

You can enjoy a person’s talents and be impressed with how they are as an individual (like a Bono).

And you can absolutely love a person’s abilities, but think very poorly of them as a person.

Two of my favorite movies are Braveheart and Top Gun. Nevertheless, I think Mel Gibson is an imbecile, and Tom Cruise is nuts. I will not stop watching and enjoying their films, but I will never attribute a hero status to people like this.

Lifegrinder said: “I’ll say it, I’m glad he is dead.”

Whereas I agree with what you said in your comments, I do take issue with this statement.

I do not wish death on (almost) anyone.

Perhaps he deserved to go to jail, or minimally to not be looked at as some god-like figure by society at large. But the category of people out there for whom I might wish their untimely death, well, they’re few and far between.

He might have been wacky, bigoted, a drug abuser, and potentially a child molester. However, unless he’s pillaging villages (or the like), I’m not about to start moonwalking across his grave.

NZ: Thanks for all the info. Your links were great, and really informative.

You also did a good job demonstrating the somewhat “victim” status Michael Jackson had, and refreshingly pointed out some of the good that he did without elevating him to being Zeus.

Please see what I said about the previous comment. You very accurately pointed out that with all his faults he “didn’t ethnically cleanse whole populations”, nor was he a member of “the Christian Brothers who physically, emotionally and sexually abused over 30,000 youths over a period of 60 years with 1,700 witnesses testifying.”

I think those like me who would like the world to remember Michael Jackson the artist, not Michael Jackson the superhero, would prefer a more moderate and intellectual approach, rather than a condmenation to death.

Gomphiasis said: “You are an ass, and in no position to judge Michael Jackson.”

I was very happy to realize just now that these sentiments were actually directed at ‘lifegrinder’ and not at me.

Nevertheless, I have numerous comments about these ludicrous statements:

1. What position would one need to be in to judge Michael Jackson? Why is he better than anyone else that he is above judgement?

2. You said:

“Perhaps he developed his general opinion of the ashkenazi [I assume you mean ‘Jew’ here] through experience. Who filed the dozens and dozens of lawsuits against
him over the years? Is it possible that his dislike of certain people was justified? If a certain group of people seemed to relentlessly target you and were the cause of endless stress in your life how might you feel about those people?”

Let me see if I understand you correctly: According to you Michael Jackson does dislike Jews. But he is 100% justified because along the way some Jews caused him intense stress.

OK. Following this logic, if I have been mugged by a black person, and so had several members of my family, I am now entirely justified in my hatred of black people. ALL black people. I can even go ahead and write songs using the worst of racial slurs against black people, all because the stress several people have caused to my life.

Very interesting.

I read this and thought to myself: I might be confronted at this moment with the dumbest person alive.

And then I kept reading… and my thoughts were confirmed.

You continued:

“As if Jewish people don’t love to be hated, as if they don’t love to be perceived as victims… their masochism is a cultural trait.”

Right.

Please Nazis, murder my family. Oh wonderful Catholics, kick me out of Spain. Come on happy terrorists, blow up half of Jerusalem. How much we love to be hated!

I like to consider myself open-minded… but you’re a moron with next to no understanding of the concept of racism, or what it means to be a Jew.

Am Yisrael Chai!!
